If I Could Be a Thousand Things
If I could be a thousand things
I think I'd be a rose,
And spend my life where beauty
Oh so delicately grows.
And I would wish some gentleman
Might pick me for his bride,
That I might know her gentle touch
And burst with crimson pride.
Yes, that would be the thing to do,
To become a velvet rose,
And beckon to each passing love
With a gay and gallant pose!
