If Autumn's Here, Can Spring Be Far

I An eve it was heralding a full moon, The sky milky white with a dash of grey, And then a hint of an isolate ray Announced that moon shall greet the night nigh soon. The hearts seemed hardly there in evening walk, Most of the trees around were almost bare, The autumn’s mild chill loomed all over there, She too felt that futile it was to talk. Both desperate for break or a breather, O walked in circles, blind as led by blind, Their thinking heads, whilst seemed not quite inclined, Tried to tie up still stray thoughts together. And a willing heart wished to carry on, If that stretches on till the early dawn. II They walked till early dawn on hard gravel, And yet both felt, it was worthwhile a walk In tune nigh with their wordless silent talk, Unhurried though and quite inaudible. And what a miracle O of the heart, A few feeling moments tended to power, What might a lifetime’s love in no time sour, Pull them together, else push them apart. Yet, when homeward, and this time hand in hand, The moon was nearing night journey’s high noon, It was as if to bless them with a boon, Each had rediscovered a lost old friend, If autumn chill is here, can spring be far? Not quite, some chills are good, winked a far star. __________________________________________ Crown of Sonnets |04.11.2005| lost love
