If All Tomorrows Ceased To Be
If all tomorrows ceased to be
Then there would be no history
No looking back on days before
Because tomorrows would be no more.
No learning from the days of past
No expecting things to somehow last
For stuck in time is what we’ll be
An empty permanence for you and me.
You could say, it’s good indeed
We’ll have it all, then there’s no need,
But, in fact, we’d all want more
Alas, there’d be nothing in store.
Never should you wish tomorrows away,
Embrace the future, welcome the day.
Live today and enjoy the time
And into the future you will climb.
