Ideas Vs Practice
Some say ideas are just a tiny part,
Just one out of a hundred, for a work of art.
The rest is practice, lots of work and strain,
Like planting seeds in dirt with little rain.
But I don't like just working hard all day,
If there's no cool idea to light the way.
A flash of fancy, like a shooting star,
That paints a picture, near or very far.
What's practice good for, if there's no dream to chase?
Without a picture, how to find your place?
Is music just some notes you play and sing?
Or poems just words you string on a string?
Nope, genius needs both, the dream and the grind,
The spark that starts it, the focus to find
The best way to make it, strong and bright,
Like sunshine shining after a long night.
So forget the folks who say just work is best,
The coolest ideas come before the rest.
