Idealistic Dreamer

They say we can never go back to the way it once was
We’ve sold our souls to the corporate bastards
I say we can and I say we will
One step at a time for the idealistic dreamer
Accepting not the lies and deceit
Knowing victory, ignoring defeat
We’ve jelled together from foreign lands
It was not built on shifting sands
There comes a time when we need to say NO
We’ve had enough, our strength we’ll show
We don’t need your kind of change
Our dreams, our faith to rearrange
A time for unity the nation cries
We can’t listen to your blatant lies
Fighting for freedom, for all those slain
One nation UNDER GOD we will remain
And so until the judgement day
An idealistic dreamer I will stay.

Hi Vince.... yes, I agree. Long live the dreamers, & God bless them. :) They are the backbone of the good in this world, and it takes real courage, to dare to dream. I love this, and am marking it as one of my favorites. And thank you for the very kind comments on my poetry. :) I loved your writing here, look forward to reading more. God bless & have a beautiful Thanksgiving holiday. Your friend, Amy :)

Hello Vince and thanks for your comment on " Raining Days of London". "Idealistic Dreamer" ... perhaps but the back bone of any nation, the workers, united. The dreams of ordinary people are grander and more peaceful than their governments. Mine, one hand raised to join yours in the spirit of this poem.... BRAVO !

The nation has a lot of rearanging of values to do. This will offend many but, as an example....pay pro athletes millions, then rip off the fans to the tune of big bucks to watch these rich kids play ball. I'll not support pro sports. As usual, Vince, you don't mince...hey, that rhymes! Love, Daver

yes greed it's all about that big buck. but we do need to get back to doing things God's way, a man needs to be a president that stands on morals and do what is best for the country not the rich. a very good poem. thank you for reading my poetry and for your comments

back to a true democracy versus an oligarchy....as it remains, the gap of the haves and have nots widen, and those in power only continue to envision a world that they live in,detached from the masses and the world they create...i'm also an idealistic dreamer of better days....peace , jay

Great poem Vince and I couldn't agree more - It's a shame that our Politicians are so far out of touch with the people - And what baffles me is they just get worse as times go forward - I guess that they don't see the state our nation is in because they just gave themselves another raise and more benefits when they should all be fired for incompetence - Great job Vince and may God Bless you always
