I'D Rather Be
I'd rather be an astronaut and not be earthly bound,
or wander into the night and not be found,
to go where nothing can kill my mind,
a place of darkness where I'm blind,
I'd rather be a ghost than in physical form,
or to float on the clouds above a rainstorm,
to go where nothing can cause me harm,
a place of joy and the eternal warm,
I'd rather be the leaf on top of the tree,
and wait for the wind to blow me free,
to be high above and far from trouble,
floating nonchalantly over the rubble,
If I was not here there would be much to miss,
notwithstanding those left within the abyss,
it seems everyday brings another sadness,
but laughter here and there brings much needed gladness.
