icy darkness

in the icy darkness
beyond our garden
foxes are screaming
framed by air frost
stars sparkle above
the clouds of my breath
the moon is weeping
the gaunt branches
of winter trees
framed by the night sky
agonised silent cries
a long note of a flute
wails away into
the darkness of eternity
