Icebox
You stole a block of ice from the freezer
and you put me to bask in your sunlight.
The heat is melting me and you’re staring,
watching, waiting for me to disappear.
I made a pool of sweet water for you.
Its sparkle and scent invited you in.
You bathed in my goodness, reveled in my joy,
then sent me back to my captivity.
The icebox is a cold and barren land.
My tears are chilled, but my passion sizzles.
Let me in your world so I can love you.
The frost cooled my lips, not my desire.
I do not know how much more I can take.
Give this lonely heart a home before it breaks.
