I Write Poems For Contests

I write poems for contests
On soup and especially on AP
Because it is a way to level up on All Poetry
And because it is a challenge
And I love a challenge

But why do I keep playing word games?
I am a fanatic with them.
I have had best word of the week
Five years in a row

Maybe that’s why…..

The adulation, the roar of the crowd, the huzzah of the myriad plebians --- ah, but surly I exaggerate. lol. Here's to you, CK! :) gw

I have to tell you that I love words in spite of having the world's worst ENGLISH teacher in the history of the world in 7th grade.

Nice poem. I've also been entering contests on AP in recent months--and I could make a case for being a word-gamer myself

Thank you Jan. I just throw down my thoughts and think "this is silly, but...." and some of those get the best reactions. This was one of those.

I, too, enjoy contests and word play. Challenges keep my juices flowing. Whether or not I win, I know the beauty of trying.

I love the challenge of any challenge except a sports challenge. I am not great at sports. I did win a racquetball tournament in 1980 but that is the only sport I truly ever loved.

Obviously Caren you suffer from a lingering case of "vocabulitis" as little know disorder often connected to early school teachers who always had a "WORD OF THE DAY" and a desire to have you use it in a complete sentence. I also write for contests because it drives the muse mad.

How do you manage to find the time to play word games and keep on winning... Do you ever sleep?

I sleep around 5 hours a night like my mother did.
