I Would

I would give you flowers But I cannot kill the last innocent things of the world I would sing you songs But I dream your motion a sweeter melody makes than song I would write you poems But words have many meanings and are singly true I would buy you diamonds But happy that I'm too poor to lie, for no stone your value compose So let us sit like children Puzzled with ourselves in the drench and pour of summer's hot rain; No flowers, songs, poems, diamonds Only the echo of eternity and our hearts panting to follow there.
