I Wonder

As the nights grow longer I stare at the stars
I wonder where you may be tonight
The wind whispers in my ear
He tells me that you’re safe in my mind
Am I being deceived?
Is it all a lie?

I wonder if you miss me like I miss you
My heart sings to me
She tells me that you do
But how do I believe something that’s been shattered before?
How do I mend the broken pieces?

I wonder if you still care
The voices in my head pound at my skull
They tell me that you always will
Am I going crazy?
Am I imagining that you’re still there?

I walk down this empty street alone
My bones feel hollow inside
Are my demons escaping now?
It’s like I’m sleepwalking
I stumbleupon forgotten memories
I fall to my knees
I can’t let go
Deep in my chest I feel my heartbeat begin to wither

I wonder if you hurt like I do
I wonder if you cry like I do
I wonder if you feel worthless like I do
I wonder if you’re happy without me
I wonder, I wonder, I wonder

So much sadness for a young, beautiful, talented woman; it is hope that keeps us going. Namaste.

I wandered as well, until I heard his voice. Then I fell, because I had found a new place to dwell. Peace and many blessings to you Tatianna.

The last stanza grabbed me tightly for these are words I have hear myself uttering under my breath many times. This was fantastic.

Thank you. The inspiration actually came from my mother rather than an ex-boyfriend/girlfriend. Many of my friends think differently and see different things in my work, but that's just part of the beauty in poetry. Interpretaion.
