I Wonder

I wonder, Whenever it starts to thunder, And the rain causes most to do a runner, Before their house goes under, Do the they lament their biggest blunder, Of not planting more trees to sit under, And leaving no green area to mitigate their blunder, So, they can sleep through the thunder.

Hi David Less trees worldwide to sit under as result of mankind's plunder. He is felling forests galore so he can profit more and more. This leaves the planet in a mess and it creates much climate stress. But will mankind change his bad ways. Methinks he's running short of days. All the best. Tony

Using my wife's laptop. looks like my desktop computer has died. We are lucky with our garden. The jury is still out for rest but just looked at what is happening in Japan they have artificial beaches on roof of sewerage plant for Bird habitat. So there is still reason to hope and get out of bed in morning. Cheers David

Hi David, this is an awesome poem but besides been great, it is also very clever. Something Johannesburg and it surrounding suburbs don't lack is trees - they are everywhere and old and big. Johannesburg is said to be one of the biggest man made forests on this planet. Hope you and the family are all dong well. Hugs and Blessings David, JENNIFER.

Never knew that about Johannesburg. Have they ever done documentaries about it. So many cities are still concrete jungles with foul air. Kudos to those who refrained from removing the trees. are many of them fruit trees. I don't drink much but I love Amarula Cream and and usually get a t least one bottle to keep me happy at Christmas. We have a beautiful tree called Pahutakawa which flowers at Christmas no fruit sadly. Thanks again for your kind remarks. David in NZ

Thank you Shirley. As you can see I am a tree person. We need trees in the city as well as in other areas, and gardens. Summed up in my reply to Evelyn. it is Labour day here in NZ. Our eldest daughter has a house up the hill at the end of our street. We were all up there today and she gave me some tomato plants , a boysenberry and a spaghetti squash plant. Hope your week goes well, David in NZ

I have the same hope Evelyn. We need more people to understand not just the need for trees but smart placing of trees for shade for young plants, animals and humans. We need to plan for large trees within cities. Large plots of land freed up for housing is where they should build apartments with trees and parks, and not subdivide existing sections with houses and trees and gardens on them. Some cities are taking up the challenge and bring back green areas but we need more. Regards David in NZ
