I Woke Today

I woke today
only half the man I was yesterday

Newtown still rings out,
as the souls of the lost ring inside my head.

I woke today......

Returning to this one, The reason it is so good is because you said a LOT with few words. That is the sign of a good poet!

Jack, thank you....I've been off of here for quite a while, a friend asked me to write something regarding the incident. Living in Colorado, I've witnessed Columbine, and most recently aurora....hard to write a positive. I am going to ask one of our contest creator's how to post a poem someone shared with me on this topic. It's not mine, has the poets name and home state, but I don't know if I can post it with out fear of plagiarizing, or posting with out their permission...even if I acknowledge them Good to see a reply from you and look forward to reading more of your work :)
