I Wish I Was Better
I wish I was better at leaving well enough alone
To know to pick up the pieces and just go home
I need to learn not everything can I master
Many of these things wind up in disaster.
I wish I was better at knowing when to stop
I seem to be relentless in my pursuit of the top
I know it good to always try to do my best
But when I am tired I have to learn to rest.
I wish I was better at seeing things the way they are
Like counting how many marbles are inside the jar
Every day it changes sometimes near and others far
I look up at the sky and I wish upon a star.
I wish I was better at just letting go
There are some things I don’t need to know
But I always am reaching though I’m not there yet
When I get there I’m not too happy with what I get.
I wish I was better for waiting for tomorrow
To see I have what I need I don’t have to borrow
Sometimes I get better while others I get worse
I need to take the time and consider the source.
