I Wish I Knew You When I Was Young

I wish I knew you when I was young
So I could show you what love truly is
Before you were hurt by so many others
Who used you as if you were only an object,
Willing to be tossed around like you were only a rag doll
But only if they had time to examine your soul
And take time to know who you are
Then they would have taken the chance they had
To love you to every last bit they contained

But now as I hold your broken soul in my arms
As I slowly piece your beautiful heart back together
I now regret not knowing you when I was young
Because if I knew you then
I would have never had to piece you back together
Because you would have still been whole
