I Wish I Knew the Difference

I wish I knew the difference
Between head and heart
Between right and wrong
I wish I knew the difference
Between letting go and giving up
Between moving on and running away
I wish I knew the difference 
Between denial and lies
Between pain and anger
I wish I knew the difference
Between being slapped and being left
Between a broken heart and a broken ego
I wish I knew the difference
Between too late and never early enough
Between yes and okay
I wish I knew the difference 
Between then and now
Between thought and think

Yoni Dvorkis February 4, 2009 at 7:20 PM If you ever find out let me know. I'm pretty much in the same boat. I like the word choice. I think they carry your message very directly into the reader's mind where he/she tries to figure out if they know the difference. For me I started out with confidence that I do know the difference, that I'm special in my super intuition...I lost that feeling around "denial and lies". Maybe good poetry has to break the reader's ego too...
