I Wish

I wish I could lay under the stars forever and waste away with the world.
I wish to connect their dots in every way possible,
Trying again and again to make the perfect shape.
I wish the moon would smile back at me, and the stars would wave.
We would be friends, spending eternity together.
I wish to absorb the brightness of the night sky, to keep it in a box for safe keeping.
I wish you would lay under the stars with me,
So I didn’t have to enjoy them alone, so we could make memories together.
However, we don’t always get what we wish for.
