I Will Survive

"That is sad - he had such potential" "Some people are just that way so they say" I watched the funeral crowd shake their heads As if it were no great loss this dark day I was half grown when they buried my Pa But the words stung and a tear formed and fell Still they became a part of my fabric And were then cast in my brain like a spell Years came and were used up then cast away I found that my potential was my goal And that my survival went hand -in - hand In life's journey where death played the last role I smile thinking of that day long ago It has shaped my actions from sun to sun As I will be lowered into my grave I want to "hear" mankind say, "Yes. Well done." 10-9-20 Contest: Will To Survive Sponsor : Silent One
