I want to post his picture but I can't figure out how to do it from my file where it is.

Ollyver was a miniature Eskimo dog ten years old when I had to give him up.

I believe he lived two more years because one night about 2 years later he came to me as if in a dream, but it was SO vivid that it did not seem a dream at first. Later I thought to call Pet Smart, and they said he HAD lived on in other people's houses but they had no information to give me! I guess no one person kept him a long time! I have several poems at Soup about this lovely dog!

My Saddest Farewell I will never forget the day I bid farewell to the one soul who ever loved me unconditionally - the dear dog I was forced to give up for adoption, and as I left him - the heart-wrenching sound of his forlorn howl. A tearjerker, and a very fine etheree. I can imagine how impossible that goodbye must have been. Congratulations on your win, Andrea.

I am so touched, especially by the second line - such a short line to deliver a heavy duty emotional feeling. Good writing, not to mention effective, Sweetie. I love ya ... CayCay

One of the most painful experiences you can have excepting dealing with sick child or worse. Decent last few years I hope. Hard to read, must have been very hard to deal with. Warm thoughts and feelings your way. Very deeply felt poem.

My late wife was like that when she put her Australian Blue Persian in British Quarantine - then 90-days, which it did not survive, dying from a "broken heart". Aloha! Rico

That parting howl haunts towards the end..I remembered my aunt's dog with that lasting imagery. Wonderful use of words in this form. All the best!
