I Will Be the One

I will be the one, silver hair
I brush from
cheek,
I pull it back
behind,
and bind
when fragile bones
decline

request from muscle’s nerve
I will be the one to serve

to wash between, rinse
shoulder
blades
pour warm water
dress
and bless
your humble
- ness

from root of waters source
I will be the cleansing force

To bring, (breath) life
to yellowed
page
in poetry
your verse
converse
when vision finds
the curse

when you've seen, too much
I will be the guiding touch

I will be the one, when stories
you tell
again
I listen in first
ears
fresh tears
and smiles refined
by years

constructing new theory still
I will be the one to heal

I will be the one, the end
sight
you see
while leaving this
bed
Time fed
blood of the soul
red

coursing through maze complete
I will be the one
              - at your feet
