I Will Always Have a Friend

you never look away when i walk by
you say hello and hug me and it makes me cry

you let me know each day in the end
no matter what, i will always have a friend

you invite me to events with honesty and sincerity
your eyes say it all the same and your heart is full of clarity

i am so fully reassured with each message that you send
no matter my self's presentation, i will always have a friend

you never allow me to give up or stay down
if i am not ready for church when you knock, i know on me you will go to town

i give thanks to the lord everynight for my continuance as i mend
when the chips are down and all bags are empty, i know i can call on my friend
