I Wept

I wept last night for the soldiers who have passed, While protecting us from the evils that harm us. I wept this morning for the brave lives gone, While trying to defeat the enemies that abound.   I wept today for the sad and weary, People I pass on the streets and in parks. The troubled souls and the saddened looks, I see as I wander the streets alone.   I wept today for the lonely and distraught, Who have no place to turn for comfort and warmth. I pray they find what they're looking for, To heal the wounds inside their hearts.   I look to the heavens and see all the faces, Of people who have passed on before me. I beg protection for our soldiers now fighting, For our lives to live in peace and freedom.   The tears from my eyes, Blown by the winds that offend, Fall to the ground, Leaving their telltale marks all around. The world needs to pray to God, For the protection we need. Ask forgiveness for the sins, We have committed.   I pray that peace will blanket the earth, Overtaking evil and drowning out hatred, So that we all will embrace the freedom, Turning the world into a safe place for the living. ©2015 by Lee Christine Brownlee
