I Went To Heaven

I went to heaven Cherishing an opulent living in world, anticipating a front seat in heaven, I was made to believe that Yamraj will send a white chariot taking best of souls up above, Where Dharamraj with scroll of our work will give a final verdict on ranking, And pronounce a heaven to the one who pursued life with spiritual karma. But to my surprise .... I only died to introspect, All goodness gave me joy grief was all the unwanted, Realm of no heaven or hell as my soul wandered, How in life we fought on caste, religion and creed, As if it would take to reign in heavens and satiate an ominous afterlife greed. Nothing I was empty handed, no riches, no comforts taken along, Barely anything above serene clouds, No fairies or gardens of paradise, Just a soul afloat with lifetime turned to ashes, Mind the only reaping land, ideas sowed in cognitive bruit, Cruelty and cheat the hell, heaven the karma of kind hands, Content the ultimate divine fruit. Dreaming ending into the actual, by the crude croaks of raven, Wondered having construed factual, I went actually through my inner heaven !! Written Dec 1st, 2015 For contest "I went to heaven" By Laura ** Yamraj is God of death and Dharamraj maintains a record of our deeds/ karma. Awarded 2nd place win

You seem to be in a mood of self contemplation as your words are polished with sullen hues, weighing your poem with melancholy thoughts. A strong sense of disappointment and dissatisfaction seeps into your words and gives a downward spiral to your thoughts. Emile.
