I Was The River, You Were The Sea

I have spent
days, weeks, months
and even years
at a time
feeding your gut
with freshwater
from my narrow banks
filled with my infatuation
and affection for you
but after all this time
you are still unable
to absorb your infatuation
for me into the depths
of your saltwater soul
