I Was Not Aware

The light sparkles on the water like stars in the sky
It challenges my imagination perhaps I can fly
I see so much beauty yet wonder why
Time marches on and passes right by.

The sky is so blue and the sun so hot
I sit down to rest in a shady spot
I drift off to a place inside of my mind
With so much around I don’t know what I’ll find.

I visit some places that I’ve been before
What I hope to find I’m really not sure
I feel this contentment grow in my heart
This feels like it could be the best place to start.

I jump in the water to try and cool down
I swim to the middle where no one’s around
I seem to find peace just floating away
My troubles vanish with nowhere to stay.

The sun starts to set and it’s time to go home
I seem to find peace outside my comfort zone
I just close my eyes because I’m almost there
I wonder about things that I was not aware.
