I Was Gonna Give You My Soul

I was gonna pledge with my heart.
I was gonna give you my soul.
This war of years has killed something inside.
I don’t think it’ll ever let me go.

You’ll never hear my words
My love you’ll never know.
The enemy found my tracks
The enemy that wounded my bones.

I was gonna give you my heart.
I was gonna pledge with my soul.
Not many rounds left in this gun.
So many hunting me down…
I’m sorry, it looks like I ain’t coming home.

This has a sense of sadness, yet a little regret? Beautiful poem.
