I Was Alone

I was alone...watching the clouds drift slowly by today
Seeing distractions...as they slowly faded away

And as my mind began to drift...into a passing day
The stars returned...in their own glittering way

I was alone...inhaling the scent of sassafras
As a returning cool evening...came to pass

Another space in time...called loneliness
Filled by another day...of my emptiness

A stirring emotion...filled my lonely heart
As the winds of time...inspired a new start

For when the new sun today...woke me from my dreams
Another lonely day...surrenderd to my screams

And when my heart and soul cried out...in a high pitched tone
Only an echoe returned...for I was alone
