I Was
I was,
Your shiny silver band,
wrapped so nicely around your finger
I was,
Your battered punching bag,
Black and blue and bloody
I was,
The one of many you pled your love to,
As you made your way to my bed
I was,
The caged wolf
Wishing to escape
I was,
What I will never be again
I broke the band
I healed the wounds
I pushed you out
I escaped the cage
…
You thought I was beaten
You thought wrong
