I Want To Fly
I want to fly-
I want to glade upon the pathways of the wind.
To scale the mountain's dizzying heights.
To stand upon the icy precipice high;
And track the endless channels of the night.
I want to touch the stars,
To reach the Cosmos, where the Angels are.
I want to fly-to forget the pain of loneliness and loss-
To leave the dreams and disappointments here;
And rise unfettered by my tears.
I want to shout and have my voice be heard
Above the hubbub of the noisy crowd.
To hear the echo of the whisper of the wind.
Above the mundane cry of yesterday,
To emerge unshaken by the womb
Of death's new promise.
To rise forever as I was ever meant to be.
I want to grasp the unseen hand and move up higher.
To reach higher and enfold my soul;
In Heaven's warm embrace.
I want to stand tip-toe and touch the stars.
To see the world in Heaven's light.
I want to stand, wrapped in the velvet coverings of the night,
Full-hearted, loved and secure- That I, battle weary, but no more alone- Might reach upward and kiss the face of God.
