I Wandered Lonely As My Life

I wandered lonely as my life Conspired with my coming death Wrapped in the cone of joy and strife I cherished every passing breath. Touched the hem of nature’s beauty Did what I could because I can. Marched to cadence, did my duty Life altering my every plan. Shed the tears of joys and sorrows Watched as life’s moments passed away Lived through all today’s tomorrows Yet somehow let them slip away. Though it conspires with my death My life will cherish every breath. John G. Lawless ©9/21/2022

Life is hard. I loved the last two lines.

You're on a roll here! Interesting - we should review more of the greats for inspiration. This is very good. I've been reading various odes recently, with their varying meter and rhyme. Got some ideas brewing, but nothing fully formed yet

John so well written of one's life experience. The ending was great. I fell like you feel cherishing every passing breath. Thanks for sharing...
