I Walked Not Alone

"How do I begin to atone for all the sin I've done?"
"When even I, cannot forgive every single one."

"There are just certain lines that never should be crossed."
"Not only have I stepped over, I left my soul there lost."

As I stood there besides these words freshly carved in stone,
I turned and looked about me, saw that I was all alone.

Or so I thought, until a hand was placed upon my arm.
I looked up into eyes so clear I knew there'd be no harm.

"Walk with me and tell me all about the life you led".
Spoke the man beside me with a beatific glow around his head.

Our walk took us for miles and hours.... maybe days.
While I talked he listened, with a loving tender way.

When I had finished he reached up and softly dried my tears
And with that gentle touch, He erased all my fears.

I looked once more about me and I could not believe.
once more, by the grave we stood and he had begun to bleed,

I quickly took his hands in mine as to wrap and dress his wounds,
He spoke my name, I looked up, and my soul began to bloom.

He placed a hand upon that stone and I watched in awe.
As the words changed into the most beautiful words I ever saw.

"Here lies a child of God who had lost her way.
But for the love of Jesus, her soul never strayed".

"She may have never seen the Angels sent to watch over her."
"But by His grace and forgiveness, her prayers he has heard".

Through the love now filling me, I saw not just the change upon the stone.
How could I have ever thought I had walked through life alone.

An incredibly beautiful piece of writing which brought tears to my eyes, Paula..Thanks for sharing this today. Someone just told me that Elizabeth Edwards has died! And I am really sad she's lost her battle however I know that nothing can ever touch her again. Blessings and love, Audrey
