I Tried To Write a Song
I tried to write a song,
But the words just were not enough.
I tried to hum the tune,
But nothing sounds right this afternoon.
I tried to find a melody
That could rival your voice I once knew.
I tried to find a single note
Like those that used to sing from your throat.
I tried to write the right words
That will bring you back to me.
I tried to compose some kind of art
To mimic how you once gently held my heart.
But after all I cried,
I can still only say, "I tried."
