I Thought Love Was Like a Treasure

I keep looking in the same empty box for love, Hoping with each glance, that it will rise above. Like a magic trick, that's meant to amaze, I keep searching, in this same, familiar place. I whisper "Abracadabra" with each hopeful try, But all I find is emptiness, that makes me sigh. I thought love was like a treasure, hidden inside, But as I look, I realize, it's not there to reside. I keep searching, with my heart full of desire, Thinking this time, love will light my heart's fire. But every time, I'm met with disappointment's sting, As I realize, the box remains empty, love's not in. So I keep looking, in this same, empty box, Thinking one day, I'll find love's magic and its power. And though I may be searching for a fleeting moment, I know in my heart, that love is worth it. For love is like a magic trick, that's yet to be found, And I'll keep looking, until I hold it in my hands. For love is worth the search, and worth the wait, And I'll keep searching, until love's magic I've found. By Otieno Elvis Gikoi THE ELO’S POETRY
