I Thought

I thought

I thought you were bright and real
Like the sun you see but cannot touch

I thought that there was a vibe true surreal
But that was just too much

I thought this was a good thing to last forever
And that this was all there was to see

I thought you had heart and compassion for others
And that you could be the one for me

I thought that for once I got this thing right
And that you were different in all that I heard

Never thought again I’d be thrown in a ring to fight
I thought what you said you meant every word

I thought wrong
