I Thought

I thought…
Your smile was for me, and me alone.
That I am the reason for your laughter.
That with me, you feel it’s like home,
And that it’s me you sought after.

I thought…
Those words you uttered were for me,
And I could listen forever.
That when you gaze, it is I you see,
I’ll drown in your orbs, over and over.

I thought…
That you and I were meant to be one,
That our fate was from high above.
But you’ve proven me wrong, now everything’s gone,
And all I have is unrequitted love.
