I Think I'M Losing Myself

I think I'm losing myself.
The girl I was,
is not the woman I have become.
Somewhere between high school and university.
Sometime between naiive belief,
and bitter disillusionment,
I think I lost the spark in my eye.
Words don't create music in my heart anymore.
My thoughts don't flow like they used to.
As i bury my feelings further and deeper within,
words have lost their magic in my heart.
But I'm hoping to start again.
This woman, as she makes a feeble attempt.
Hopefully who I am today,
will weave music with her words again...

I think, no, I know we all lose ourselves at varied times in life. I believe it is because we have an inner unknown need to take the next step forward and find ourselves again. Now, after some seven decades, I am looking once again, sure by past past experiences, to fond yet another self, lost and misplaced but still, alive. You are not alone in your search. DMB

Change and disillusion often go hand in hand, Angie! I have been there, and it could be hard to cope with, but life is no magic garden. You are still young and experiencing new things; dreams and aspirations will not all come true, but if you try hard enough you'll realize that you have the strength and ability to make many of them come true:) Look to the future with hope and faith...life has a lot more to offer!! ~ Regards // paul
