Notes About The Poem

Don't you just hate it when someone tells you what you're thinking or feeling. No matter what you say they will tell you 'No you're not' it's really the way THEY perceive your words or actions. Then you stand there and get so mad you could burn into a little black cinder because you can't convince them of your innocence. What most people don't realize is that they read their own reactions into whatever is going on at the time. In other words they expect out of you what THEY THEMSELVES would do in any given situation. It doesn't matter that the thought never crossed your mind. They think that's what you were thinking or feeling because that's the way THEY would react and that's that.                                                                                           Give people like that a wide berth. All they'll do is give you ulcers and spread bad news about you. The less opportunity you give them the less ammo they have to use against you.

I Think I Know

I think I know the reason why,
He does the things he does.
I think I know the reason why,
He'll often push and shove.

I think I know the reason why,
She often acts with rancor.
I think I know the reason why,
She oft hurts those who love her.

I think I know, I really do,
What goes on in your mind;
For there are ways of telling.
People oft give signs;

Signs that telegraph your thoughts,
How you feel inside.
I can read the signs quite well.
I see the things you hide.

Though you tell a different story,
I know what's on your mind.
I know what you're thinking,
'Cause I read between the lines.

I notice things that others don't,
And I connect the links.
I know what you're all about.
I really know --- I think.

It is incredible how people are ready to judge others. We may have an opinion on someone, but I keep it to myself, for I know I could be wrong. ~~

Judy, your poem is so nicely written, and is quite true. No one knows what a person is thinking or feeling, unless they ask them. My very best wishes, Evelyn :)
