I Think I Am

A being among beings
floating in the cosmos
no navigation compass
perched on planet earth

blindly living, dreaming
a life understood little

A being with eyes
that cannot see all
a being with ears
that cannot hear all
a being with mouth
that cannot eat all
a being with brain
that cannot perceive all
a being with limbs
that cannot reach all

brain so powerful
but knows less than a dot
of the cosmos’s mystery
but claims to be supreme
among beings created

I think I am that little thing
ignorant but a little wise
laughable but conceited
with the little I claim to know
the vast obscure cosmos
