I Stood Stupified

They told I had delivered a boy,
I was beside myself with joy.
I couldn't see it happening
just heard the sound of crying.

They showed my baby,
I was mesmerized, wonder struck!
How could this be inside me?
How humans get created out of sperm and egg?
And grow within the body automatically?
How can a baby live in mother's body?
How does it know when to come out?
How does it come out through an opening so small?

Milk started coming out of my breast.
As I brought my son closer, he knew he had to suck!
Who taught him that?
How did the milk come all of a sudden?

My baby blinked his eyes, kicked his legs and cried,
A new motherly feeling surged within,
a new being was born,
I watched enthralled, stupified!
