I smooth the wrinkles on the bed

and mangled deserts
everywhere

but now they shine
on everyone
stronger than mica
lining the southern
mountain roads

Too many clouds
"got in my way
before I looked" at colors
"that way"

Mine was blinding silver
in the Blue Ridge Mountains
in decrepit July,
unforgiving sweat

for magenta,

pink, and softer
juvenile

Joni Mitchell
motivated me to stay

I don't know her
or songs

"I really don't know love
at all"
