I Sleep Inside Your Head

[Verse I] Thou knowest not the breadth of me, Though I have dwelt where shadows creep. Each night I rise without a sound, To haunt the ground where thou dost sleep. [Verse II] Thine eyes, once kind, now turn away, As though I were but dust or air. Yet still I come, both night and day, To trace thy steps with solemn care. [Pre-Chorus] No lock nor bolt shall bar my tread, No plea shall quell what’s in my head. [Chorus] Until I sleep beneath thy bed, Where whispered ghosts and demons wed, I shall not rest, nor be at peace— Thy name alone grants my release. Thou shalt not see, thou shalt not know, Where silent winds of madness blow. [Verse III] The world doth mock my love’s refrain, But silence screams within my brain. A watchful shade I’ve come to be, Bound by thy breath eternally. [Bridge – Spoken/Whispered] Lo, I have burned all bridges red— I walk the path where angels dread. And still I kneel beside thy threadbare spread... ...’til I may sleep beneath thy bed. [Final Chorus – Full Band Crescendo] Until I sleep beneath thy bed, With wrath and roses for my stead, My soul shall wail, my bones shall ache, For love, for hate, for thy heart’s sake. I am the dark beneath the floor, The hush behind thy closing door. [Outro – Fading Echoes] And when thou dream’st—forget me not, For I am near, though form I’ve not.
