I Should Have Listened

Please tell me if it's true
Is it possible that you
Have lied to me again
With no reason in the end

Left me broken hearted
Achieving what you wanted
Is this the way you play?
The girls that come your way?

chrous

I should have listened to my Mother,
My sister and my brother
When they said I would be stuck
With a man I could not trust

I know that life's not fair
There are times when we must bear
That life is not for me
I'd better if I'm free

chrous

I should have listened to my mother,
My sister and my brother
When they said I would be stuck
With a man I could not trust

Sometimes the answer is where
You least expect to find it
My family was always there
I just didn't realize it

chrous

I should have listened to my Mother,
My sister and my brother
When they said I would be stuck
With a man I could not trust

Betrayal is such a huge deal. Not so much that they want someone else but the betrayal of your feelings freely given and the trust based on returned information. One feels stupid and hurt when it is the betrayer who has no honour, no robustness of character and never really loved us. You can only know if it has happened to you. Loved this one. Kind regards, Ian

Mary, this was a sad, yet strong reality check of a piece. Live & learn, that's how we win in the end.
