I should go to sleep

I should go to sleep
And I should go to bed
But I feel like my day has been stolen from me
So I must snatch back the night
My eyes itch from late nights and tired days
I push on with stubbornness
I mustn’t lose this time

It wrestles against me
That entity that steals time
But sometimes I wonder
What if time slipped away from me on it's own

What if I was found unworthy of keeping time and this is why it eludes me
My days, I spend searching for it
My nights, I barter to try and have it
It never works,
It’s always gone
And I remain perpetually tired.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Welcome to Poetry Soup. I welcome you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.

Soooo relatable for anyone who’s battled sleepless nights, it's beautifully honest. Thanks for writing and sharing this piece
