I Seen

I seen a people being lead away
Miles and miles of railway trains
Fingers cling to chain link fence
Seen them once ain't seen them since

I seen chimney's bellow out angry smoke
So thick with sin a man could choke
Is this how far down we've taken life
Jesus wept as the nations cried

I seen power hungry grow like weeds
I seen them prey on the least of these
Rise almost as fast as they fall
Still festering beneath the soul

I seen lessons that we never learn
I seen the pain, I seen the hurt
It goes by different names but I seen it strike
The snake that takes the bite of life
