I See You In Your Innocence

I saw you sat in your innocence. In the rain you banged your drums and mimed your song. Your smile was pure enjoyment. It made me smile as well. You caught me as your head turned and I tried to leave you in your innocence alone. But you knew that I had seen you and yet no words passed from our mouths. I see you in your innocence. You can’t wait to live your dream. The world is there for you to take it. With eyes so full of wonder. Your smile is without life’s plunder. No scars of broken dreams, or lines of life’s cruel screams blemish your skin. I see you in your innocence. I remember when I knew innocence of my own. I see you in your innocence. I’ll never forget seeing that moment of freedom, of pure joy when you banged your drums and sang your song. I hope that life lets you win. I hope your innocence lives in your song.
