I See You In My Dreams

I see you in my dreams I feel you in my arms But reaching out to touch you Only causes harm You are not there on my pillow You are nowhere to be found Sheer despair surrounds me In my tears I drown… Please take me back, my darling This time I’ll treat you right For if you won’t, I swear to God I will not live another night… What’s this? The phone is ringing It’s your number on the screen As I pick up the receiver My equilibrium careens I think the words ‘I love you’ But all I hear come out Is your voice on the other end Calling me a lout… The click I hear is like a knife To pierce my very soul A lunge into my very heart ~ May God seize full control

I guess it was more nightmare than dream, eh?

Wow, well-written tale of heartbreak, Gershon. I was hoping for a happy ending but not all stories can have one. You had me thinking of my favorite song from childhood, Telephone Line, by ELO. Maybe it's a good thing he was left hanging. Rhonda xx

Cold to the bone. No one wants to hear that. The last line gives hope.

Heartache is all consuming and takes time to heal. Often, things might change if you don’t give up. A tender poem from you Gershon, I can relate. Blessings xxoo

Hey Gershon, you Penned it really well. And I hope all is well at your end. Life is too short, don't let your loved ones get away from you. Call them, keep them tight, kepp them well. Blessings

The person on the other end of the phone rang you because they wanted to speak to you. I think she was as upset as you and called you a lout because she perhaps thought it would have been preferable if you had made the first move. If this poem is personal, I sincerely hope all is harmonious now. Take care. Shirley
