I Saw You Today
Lost in my search for some item on the shelves,
I turn to push the cart forward, and
there you are!
I am stunned, because I thought I'd never see
you
again. I stop and watch
you.
I'd forgotten
you
stood that way. I'd forgotten
you
made that face. I know it's not
you.
But I stand there, very still not wanting to break
the spell. The stranger turns, and
you are gone...
The stranger and I exchange smiles.
Gratitude fills me that for a moment
I saw
you.
