I Said Good Die

I SAID GOOD DIE

Lemons ain’t as acidic as I am treated by you
Two week old milk ain’t as sour as the things you do
I’m tired of chasing butterflies and not catching one
And I predict something awful will happen when you’re eventually done

Done torturing a man who loved you so much
A man who melted at your every majestic touch
You took me to the moon but left me there all alone
And my will to live ended when the sun first shone

How could you desert me when all I wanted was you
But I suppose loving a junkie should deal him his due
After me you shed your cloth for so many men
It may have been five, yeah, five times ten

Those men should have looked in your eyes and seen the image of me
When they heard your winsome whispers they should have heard my final plea
Dope has a disastrous way of splitting apart two loving hearts
And that very first shot is when the sorrow and sadness starts

It begins with the phrase “it’s only recreational I swear"
But there are very few things an addict doesn’t learn to fear
Then it’s followed by loathsome lies and things I could not deny
And that’s why a junkie is so acquainted with the word “goodbye”
