I Ruined Us

I ruined what we had
With my mincing words misplaced,
Words that made you mad
With a feeling as though also disgraced.

I ruined what we were
With things in which we never concurred,
Things I was just unsure
Of whether it is my path that has occurred.

I ruined our bond
With feelings long suppressed,
Feelings as shallow as a pond,
In which I drowned into state so depressed.

You ruined what was left of me
By fully letting go of me entirely,
Even though I tried and tried to be
Better for you (and me) eternally.
