I Rememeber Dad
I remember ,
How your lips caressed your cigar ,
Like a woman being held around her waist ,with soft arms of assurance .
How you paced yourself perfectly ,
taking a breath every three puffs.
Easing your cigar from your lips ,kept safe by the hold of your Thumb and your index , while the smoke from your mouth and nostrils, set free and flirted with the immediate air .
And how the Ash from the tip ,broke off like a diver falling from a cliff,
But your cigar kept alive by a long inhale and a steady exhale before it slowly became estranged .
Then you repeat the process.
oh how I remember.
